Rolling Start

The start was clean, but there was soon plenty of bumping and barging midfield, the car of Jamie Wall (car 15) spinning out. He had been nudged by Brian Heerey, and on spinning back across the track, Wall also took out Heerey. Both were unable to continue.

Cotterill had the lead at the end of the first lap, but the action was close, Cotterill being rapidly hauled in by Lyall. These two were opening up a small gap to the rest.

Into the complex for the third time, and Lyall finally got past Cotterill. Cotterill stayed in contention though, heading a train of cars (Day, Hazell and Carr). Third through to sixth was extremely hard fought, cars passing all the time. Lyall and Cotterill, not to be left out, also fought hard.

Into the chicane, and Andy Brakewell had a very hairy moment. He got involved in some argy-bargy and ended up rolling over. In the end he ended up on all four wheels, but facing the wrong way down the track, but he at least managed to get the car going again.

Gradually, the front two pulled away, the dice from 3rd to 6th falling back as their squabbling held them up. In turn, there was another small gap to 7th. Things started to spread out slightly, although when Warburton passed Hazell, he took Day with him. This closed the 3rd through to 7th placed cars back up, and provided some very close racing, and surprisingly free of contact, compared to the rest of the field. Then it all went horribly wrong, as Hazell and Llewellyn lost it into the complex on the final lap. Hazell quickly rejoined, but Llewellyn took longer to escape the clutches of the field.

Result: 1. Very happy panel beaters.
